Celtic Village Gabreta

In the only Celtic village of the Bavarian Forest you can experience the prehistory and early settlement of the Bavarian Forest up close.
The Celtic village was reconstructed on findings from the 12th – 2nd century BC. Everything is to touch and try.

Dreisessel in the Bavarian Forest

With its 1333 meters, the Dreisessel is the eighth highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest. Once the kings of Bavaria, Bohemia and Austria gathered here on the top of the mountain to set the borders of their lands. Even today, the Dreisesselberg is considered a landmark for the border triangle Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. Because of the paved hiking trail to the summit Dreisessel is very popular as a destination for families with baby carriages and older people. The 8 m high stone columns offer a magnificent view of the southeastern Bavarian Forest.
The hiking area around the Dreisessel is one of the most varied hiking areas of the Bavarian Forest.

Furth im Wald: Dragons and more

Not only the “Drachenstich”, Germany’s oldest folk play, attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year to Furth im Wald. Even outside of the festival season, the city has a lot to offer with the Dragon Cave, the “Further Felsengänge” and the “Wildgarten”.

Granite Christmas – Christkindlmarkt in Hauzenberg

From 28.11.2019 on all Advent weekends Thursday to Sunday: A special experience with a fantastic atmosphere is the “Granitweihnacht” in Hauzenberg, an unusual Christmas market that takes place every year in Advent on the site of the “Steinwelten” (stone worlds) in the old quarry. It is definitely worth a visit.

Neuschönau: Baumwipfelpfad (Treetop path)

Perhaps the longest treetop path in the world can be found in the Bavarian Forest near Neuschönau. On a barrier-free length of approx. 1.3 km in total, it takes visitors to a seemingly different world and offers unique views and experiences. A maximum gradient of 6% allows wheelchair and stroller access to walk in 8 to 25 meters above the forest floor in unspoiled nature.

Passau: Veste Oberhaus and Oberhausmuseum

In the 800-year-old Veste Oberhaus, history comes alive in a unique way. With 65,000 square meters of converted space, it is one of the largest surviving castles in Europe. In addition to the Oberhaus Museum, the Veste now houses the Culture | Youth Hostel Passau, the observatory and the restaurant “Das Oberhaus”. The view from the Veste on Passau and the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz is overwhelming.

Pullman City

The start of the season had to be postponed due to the Corona crisis. Estimated start of the season April 24, 2020: Simultaneously with the Country Weekend & Linedance-Special, the season opening will be celebrated this weekend with a big parade on April 25 and a fun egg hunt on April 26.

After the great success of the first Winnetou Show in 2019 with around 40,000 enthusiastic spectators, the western city is launching the Karl May Games Pullman City Bayern 2020 with 50 dates from June to September.

“Rauhnächte” are holy nights, in which the doors to the Otherworld are wide open. The “Perchten”  announce the turnaround from the old to the new year.
They drive away the spirits of darkness and awaken the spirits of light and growth.

Steinwelten (Worlds of Stone)

Since 2006, the “Steinwelten” – worlds of stone – in the “Granitzentrum Bayerischer Wald” in Hauzenberg have fascinated visitors with their monumental architecture, exciting productions and informative exhibitions. The stories about the granite, this cold blood of the earth, inspire children like adults, professionals and laymen alike. An abandoned quarry with a romantic lake form the grandiose backdrop for a unique architecture that forms an intimate unity with the themes and contents that are staged in the house and in a historic log break. A special experience is the “Granitweihnacht” (Christmas of granite), which takes place every year in the Advent on the grounds of the Steinwelten.

Three-river tour in Passau

A special highlight, which should not be missed during a visit to the beautiful three-river city of Passau, is the three-river tour.
